Words fail me.... I have always wanted to see these books since Hugh Brogan wrote of the excerpt from Pond and Stream with the lake and the island, the echoes of Thorstein, and the owls calling at the head of the lake.

I was so disappointed when "Before a Peak In Darien" did not include that part in its selection from the Nature Books. Now, thanks to Mr. Clint Heitman, the Literary Executors, and to you too, Dave, I can finally read them.

The Frances Craine illustrations are lovely too!

Thank you everyone who made this possible, especially to Mr. Heitman for his labor of love. He has given us all a very unexpected gift!
