The point has been fairly made that if Jemmerling had simply presented the skins and eggs he would have had to have witnesses. So there's no reason to presume any difference for Dick -- clearly he would have had to have witnesses that birds were nesting in that particular place, and that he did indeed take pictures. The pictures would identify the type of bird and that they were really nesting.

Admittedly there is room for manipulation even so, although perhaps a youth of Dick's age could be forgiven for assuming that if he just could get the pictures, everyting would be proven. I would agree with the postulate that the point would be to get a serious examination of the claim based upon the available evidence and witnesses.
