I guess we all like different things. I have never found SW at all boring. The description of the camp on Swallow (Horsey) Island echos that of the original camp in SA and my favourite chapter, or at least chapter title, is "More Island Life". This living outdoors without adult supervision is to me a very attractive theme. It's hard to write 12 books about that without livening things up with a few battles.
