I love CC and BS - but I guess having gone on boating holidays on the Broads, to find the places and re-live it all certainly helps with that.

I was trying to think if there are any of the books I don't love. I guess the only one I go through stages with is Missee Lee - I think there's an awful lot great with it, but I guess I'd have to say it was the one I can see the most flaws in too. (The next would probably be SA - controversial!!! - it's magical and I love it, but the plot's a bit all over the place...)

I know some here don't like GN much - whereas I love it. And SW and PM are probably two of my favourites (WH might be my overall favourite) and yet they are two that I sometimes read criticisms of.

I suppose it raises a more general question: what is it about the books that we love? After all, if we differ on that, it is likely that different books will strike different chords with us. Are we drawn by the characters? The settings? The story-telling?
