There are Walkers and Swainsons and even a Bigland among the local surnames.
Of course, Walker was the maiden name of AR's first wife. I've always found it somewhat strange that, given to understand that the relationship was not always amicable, he used that name. Perhaps when starting off and thinking S&A would be a one-off story he chose the name as the first off the top of his head. Better than Smith or Jones.
