WDMTGTS is a 'real' book.

The two definate fantasy books are PD and ML.

We are told in Swallowdale that PD was a story made up during the winter holiday in a wherry on the Norfolk broads, and with ML having the same ship and taking place halfway round the world, it has to be fantasy.

As I said, the jury is still out on GN. It is a story that could have happened in real life, but apparently the timings of holidays and nesting birds don't match. I don't have all the details. My favourite theory is that the S,A & D's had a holiday crusing around the Hebredies and Dot decided to use that as a basis for a story. If that is the case, then we are really reading Dot's book not AR's.
