As I've said before, I'm firmly in the "GN is real" camp, but I'd
nevertheless like to congratulate Hilary on the clever idea of GN as
a book by Dot. If it is, Dot's style must have improved a lot since the
passages we saw from her earlier works! But then, it's plausible that
at that age her style would have been improving rapidly.
In the case of PD (and presumably ML) I think the "official line" is that
the book is a retelling in AR's words of a story made up by children.
In this way the problem of style is solved.
