CF does say in GN “Wouldn’t help to lose the lot (ie the rope and anchor) .. I did that once so I know”. He says in SD when patching up Swallow that he had to do the same for “a ship’s gig against the coast of Java”. But most of his sea travel, going by the shipping line labels mentioned on his trunk, is by sea travel in passenger liners.
So how much small boat sailing did he really do, apart from the Beckfoot launch with and without the GA? Nancy & Peggy only get Amazon the year before SA.
Though somewhere Nancy says CF is webfooted compared with Timothy.
