I have also seen the "real" world and I don't like it either - it will eat you, grind you up and spit you out on the sidewalk so fast. So I make Art in an itty bitty town to help try to change it in my tiny way. Books are a good escape and a way to learn how to change it, hopefully, for the better. And Sailing, as Mr. Ransome's characters do, is an excellent way to recreate without sucking up fossel fuel (except for the manufacturing process - and even that can be minimized - do I hear it for dugout canoes!).
