I went into the British Pathe site and searched on famine and Russian and found something that might have been it.
Is this the clip of AR and a Pathe cameraman getting on to a train? It's good stuff- the only actual film footage of AR from that time that I have found. The contrasting clothing- of the dashing film man in stetson and jodhpurs and AR in tweeds- speaks volumes about the time.
And you are right- that Pathe site is full of goodies. I was even able to find clips of my former landlady's fashion shows from the '60s (Alice Pollock and 'Quorum').
The free clips on the site are fairly poor quality and have a Pathe news 'for viewing only' superscript, although the pictures are riveting and the sound quality (for the clips with sound) is quite good. Well worth a browse- and it's well catalogued.
