Like others, I've been unable to locate any reference to a book by Swainson 'By the Roadside' London 1909 as referenced on 'The Hoofmarks of the Fawn'. Not that I've given up hope and I see that I've been searching for this title (if it exists!) since 2003. Maybe with more of us looking a copy will turn up.
