Wonder, in these modern times, if the Lake District has sail boarding, or jet ski enthusiasts, or those trying to water ski behind power boats.
I wouldn't put wind surfers in the same nuisance category as jet ski enthusiasts or high-powered motorboats, These days I do most of my sailing on
a lake in central Poland. Power boats are banned, the occasional windsurfer adds a little navigational variety. (Shall I let him cut across my bows?)
Sadly the powerboat ban does not apply to the police or rescue services who ruin the tranquil setting by racing across the lake at stupid speeds in a
vain attempt to impress their girl friends.
