What strikes me most about the Red Fox paperbacks is that they are THICKER than the original hardbacks! Swallowdale in particular was a monster compared to my old Cape green board version.

Children's eyes must widen as they look at these on any bookshop or library shelf. Some would be inclined to pass by because of the sheer size.

I know since book 4 of Harry Potter we've been exposed to 'whopper' children's books, but I wonder if the S&A paperback series could be cunningly shrunk somehow to make them less imposing?
