Yes. Not knowing Lanehead at all except through the estate agents' particulars, it looks to me to be too large to be Beckfoot, but it has the look of so many houses of the time and place that it would have contributed to AR's inner construction. He clearly used reality as a context for his stories (what author doesn't?) and that ranges from detailed and specific places like the Dogs' Home to fairly generic venues like Beckfoot.

It seems to me that buying Lanehead would be a heck of a thing to undertake; just maintenance, as the Council are finding, would be a real continuing drain and a restoration would be beyond any reasonable expectation, unless you can discover that Bill Gates or Lakshmi Mittal were keen readers... I know that this is cowardly stuff, but Lanehead would cost Real Money, for any foreseeable future.

But I have no status in this discussion...
