(Apologies if this posts twice - struggling to post a little bit...)

This has been running round my mind a lot today (when I should have been doing something more productive)and I got to wondering about partnerships? Presumably, if there could be an Arthur Ransome centre at Lanehead, it is not only ART/TARs and us fans who could potentially benefit from that? A few thoughts occurred to me - I'm sure many of them will have already come up in discussions, but it can't hurt to throw a few thoughts around:

a) National Park Authority / Tourist Board. Depends what the final thing is going to be - but if (alonside a Swallows and Amazons Adventure Centre) there was a permanent AR exhibition and shop, etc, close to Coniston and Brantwood, and not so far from Windermere - that is a very nice possible tourist attraction.

b)Coniston Launch. The lake cruises from Coniston already have a very popular "Swallows and Amazons" cruise - that could surely be built on if they were able to drop people off and pick them up from an AR centre on the lake shore with boathouse, etc. As such, might they be interested in playing some part?

c)The councils that have previously owned it. From reading things here and elsewhere it seems the councils were struggling with the responsibility for the upkeep of the centre, but might local councils (not necessarily the Teeside, etc. ones who had it before) be interested in having a stake in the place if they weren't ultimately responsible for it? Obviously it's a great site for school trips and while education authorities are not splashing cash around at the moment, it could be an appealing alternative to a centre they are currently fully responsible for. (In other words, investing in this centre could actually be a saving for a local authority, if it were instead of being 100% responsible for an outdoor centre elsewhere).

d) Bank Ground Farm - they are clearly keen to develop things at Bank Ground Farm (last time I was there they were working on the boathouses, etc. They might be interested in an AR centre next door (ish) - especially if there was an option for a lakeside path between the boathouses (not 100% sure of the geography) - especially if a launch was dropping off at Lanehead...

e) The Ruskin Museum in Coniston. The village museum site - which is really as much a Collingwood museum as anything else - has pretty much developed to its full capacity now. They might be interested in some space at Lanehead for special exhibitions, perhaps?

I appreciate that some of these ideas would be undoubted cul-de-sacs, but I suppose the idea is that it might be possible to cast the net a bit wider as far as a group effort is concerned?
