A letter in the Saturday book review supplement of yesterday's Guardian, probably commenting on a review of this book last week, points out that there's also a prequel to Treasure Island. I can't find my copy of the relevant page, maybe I've thrown it out, but a web search suggests it was referring to Flint and Silver by John Drake.
