You could say that the weather was a factor in BS as well.
Wet conditions, or even a heavy dew, and the flash gun wouldn't have gone off.
Without puddles or wet ground they wouldn't have been able to find the bicycle tire tracks.
Of course a wind in the wrong direction and the boats cast off at Ranworth Broad, at least, might not have ended up with so little damage, and the D&Gs wouldn't have been able to stay afloat so long. One seriously damaged vessel and their parents would have had no choice but to pull them off the river.
