Yes, It's huge fun and does so much elegant heavy lifting, adding to the tone for the whole of the rest of the book, providing light relief (more for the adults than children, maybe) and firmly establishing Nancy's character.

My favourite (I'm a romantic wimp, I'm afraid) is the line about the soft start of the snowfall, in WH, that Ed quotes; 'Softly, at first, as if it hardly meant it, the snow began to fall.' Quite unforgettable, and one of the reasons that, after PM, WH is my favourite of the books.
