I couldn't have put it better myself! My own collection has been accumulated in much the same way, and e-bay is a blessing and a curse!
Luckily, there is a very good charity second-hand book shop around here and that has provided me with some good finds has I have mentioned in previous posts.
As I have noted before, there must be something special about an author assumed to be writing for children that I still read and take an avid interest in some fifty years since I first read him.
