Colour polarity

In reply to Ed's posting (39576) about the useage of colour to define 'them' and 'us', I think that this goes back into the very dawn of history, as exemplified by the ancient and noble game of chess. Here we definitely have a them-and-us situation shown by a colour or shade differentiation.
In southern Australia we have a very different interpretation to the term 'Black Friday', for that reminds us of the awful day in January of 1939 when half the state of Victoria was in flames from wildfire. The gaunt white skeletons of trees burnt on that day still remain, many towering above the rest of the forest.
