My older daughter, aged nine, certainly thinks that we dump too much responsibility on her for
the actions of her younger sister, five, and brother, three. Whether we would hold her as
responsible for them if she were a boy instead, I can't tell. I don't think that she is really
held as responsible for as much as she thinks. But I admit to telling her that she should know
better because she is older.
As an older brother of two younger brothers I remember thinking it unfair that they got to do
things at a younger age than I did because when my parents thought I was old enough, suddenly
everyone was able to do these things!
