As a lad of 7 in 1932 I first met the S&A books and except for a period in my teens I have read and reread them many times. I find that the Blacketts and Walkers etc are more real to me than some of my boyhood friends. Whenever I have any trouble sleeping I don't count sheep, I list the characters in the books. You might be interested to know that the grandson of one of AR's cousins lives here. When I visited Norfolk and the Lake District a few years ago for the first time it was like coming home.
