I don't believe that there is any mention in any of the books of when or how Bob Blackett died.
But I think that given the attitude of Nancy and Peggy in Swallowdale that it must have been some
time before. Nancy as the older seems to have some memories and is emotionally affected by the
discovery of the tin box. Peggy does not seem to have the same reaction. So perhaps she can't
really remember her father.

Given that their ages are 12 and 10/11 in 1929 which seemed to be the consensus of previous
discussions, and that most children don't have many clear memories of times before they are about
4 or 5, Bob Blackett could have died in about 1920 to 1922. Someone mentioned the Great War or the
Spanish flu epidemic of 1918/19 as a possible cause of death. Both seem a little early unless he was
wounded and survived the war for a while.
