‘Mania for censorship’. My theory for the existence of this can be found, for what it is worth, on Club Hut, message dated Sept 1st. However, to try and introduce a positive note: the Winter MM editor, Joy Wotton, has so far shown an admirable open-mindedness. As she is subject to ‘guidance’ by Tarpaulin, she will need determination and why not support her, by e.g. sending in whatever good stuff we can write, and keeping up the pressure? As the Summer MM editor Dave Sewart has suddenly resigned for reasons yet unexplained, there may be a new editor there too. It offers some hope, at least. Meanwhile all of us, and Mrs Marshall in particular, are surely owed an apology by that other Ransome author/editor who can’t even spell properly the name of one of AR’s main villains.
