Shrewd point! The G.A., as Mrs Braithwaite repeatedly observes in PM, makes a great deal of extra work, so the housemaid would have been retained for the duration of her visit in SD, but not in PM, where she descends unexpectedly (and, from Nancy's point of view, uninvitedly!)

I suspect that there is indeed a financial angle. How will the G.A leave her money (we can be very sure that she lives without touching the capital!) in her Will? Will it go to her great-nieces, or to a "respectable" charity?
