Birthday Mystery
I have always been puzzled by the great Birthday mystery in S&A when none of the children can work out whose birthday it is. A recent TARBoard posting suggests that it was intended as a joke, but it doesn't come across that way as I read the passage.
Foreign Natives
I have just been reading Great Northern? and I realised that the children refer to Gaelic as a "foreign" language. as it is the language of the natives, it seems strange to describe it as "foreign"!
