It was a music-hall sketch by Billy Dwyer and Charlie Clapham. (Pre-1920, presumably. And, yes, I confess I had to cheat with three of them by listening to it again.)

While we're talking music-hall, does anyone else remember with as much delight the wonderful recounting of Shakespeare by Bernard Miles -- The Lowdown On Hamlet, The Truth About Tristan, and so on -- Cicely Courtniedge's Double Damask, or, joy of joys, The Fruity Melodrama? Wonderful stuff!
