Miles Smeeton was an incredible person and a prolific author about India, sailing around Cape Horn (Once is Enough), and about his wildlife park he ran in Alberta Canada. The book published by the Mariners Library, "Once is Enough", has the preface by Nevil Shute.
Shute's other books which have a marine focus are "Most Secret" and "Requiem for a Wren".
It is interesting that when Shute wrote, the relationship between the air and the sea was not as definite as today, as a large number of aircraft were actually flying boats.
