Who owns Wildcat Island?

The recent message with its speculation about Wildcat Island's lighthouse tree and the news that TARS has planted a couple of trees to replace the lost one has made me wonder who owns the island. If it is not owned by a public agency, the owner must be very sympathetic to TARS. The occasional posted photos of camping expeditions also point to a truly beneficent owner.

I work for a land conservation group in Maine (US), which specializes in protecting coastal areas, particularly islands, so my question has a slight professional interest to it. Are other settings of Ransome's books protected or are efforts underway to protect them? There must be great concern in the Lake District and the Broads about controlling development. The setting for SW looks like an ideal candidate for the kind of private land conservation work that we do.

Does TARS take an interest in this?
