recall this co-incidence jarring.

I do and still recall vividly the descriptions of the
anchor shifting with the tide, the fog horn and
sea sickness and most intensely John trying to stay
awake whilst he eats breakfast.

Like many other episodes these were drawn from life.
If you have not recently done so, re-read WDNMTGTS
as critically as you wish: It can be considered the
finest from a purely literary point of view and withstands
any criticism!
