There is a conference being held right at the moment in Melbourne Australia by the Nevil Shute Society.
Recently reading the web sites, I was surprised to learn that both Nevil Shute Norway's daughters live in the USA and that the late NSN is a great grandfather many times over.
It is interesting to read Nevil Shute's books and to compare the writings of both Arthur Ransome and Nevil Shute, both prolific writers and living at the same time and each with a great love of sailing and fishing.
The question arising out of comparing their writings is "What did AR do during WW2, was he an Air Raid Warden or what?" It is hard to imagine AR sitting pat in Norfolk while the war raged around him.
