It's quite a while since this was last discussed, and there are new kids
on the block since then, so why not.

I have a top six - the five lake books and We Didn't Mean.
Whenever I am reading any of these six,
I usually feel that that one is the best of the whole series.

I have a sort of special affection for The Picts and the Martyrs.
If I had to choose one AR book to take to a desert island, that might
be the one. Whenever I have not read any of the books for a few years,
it is usuallly a desire to re-read PM that brings me back to the series.
I like it better as an adult than I did as a child, because I enjoy
watching Nancy manipulating the grown-ups.

If I had to re-run my life and was only allowed to read one of them
this time, I might not choose PM, which would leave me longing to know
what was in the earlier books. I might go for S&A or WDM. Maybe S&A.
A life without Wild Cat Island would be really deprived.
