My least favourite is The Big Six, for reasons I find hard to identify.
It just doesn't grip me very much, even though I am in favour of AR's
effort in it to write a book not centred on middle-class children like
his others. CC may be my next least favourite.

Secret Water seems rather too crowded for my taste - too many characters,
two of whom (Dum and Dee) seem to be just ciphers.

Generally the flat landscapes of the East Anglia books may contribute
to my liking those books less.

All the books in the bottom half of my list have the property that
though I think of them a bit negatively when I'm not reading them,
they turn out when I do read them to be much better than I remembered
them, though still lacking some indefinable element that's present
in my favourites.

The last time this was discussed, several people identified GN as their
least favourite, if I remember correctly. I quite like it, though it
just fails to make the top half of my list because of the strength of
the competition.
