My favourite characters are Titty and Dick.
Titty is such a strong character whose vivid imagination colours all
the stories in which she appears. I have read that she was also AR,s
favourite characters which might explain why she is given some of the
best passages; "Titty Alone" (SA), "Candle-Grease" (SD) and "Dowsing"
for water (PP Chapter's 13 and 14).
Dick's scientific mind is key to the D's relationship with the other
characters; his keen interest in astronomy (WH), sailing(CC),
geology(PP), bird watching (CC and GN) and photography (BS)is a major
influence on all these books. In PM he is given nothing new to do and
so perhaps is his least interesting appearance.
