As it is for all the three (or two?) Roberts, I answer here.

I'm Hungarian, past 40, and sometimes need the help of dictionaries,
that's why the relatively good spelling. I often hesitate about the
sintax, probably somtetimes it is correct grammatically, but no
real English or American would write or tell that sentence such a way.

We have only 5 A.R stories translated into Hungarian yet (SA, SD, WH,
PP, We Didn't Mean to Go to See) and the style (diction, language,
manner - look! which is the good world here) of all these translations
are so wonderful, that as my mother tongue is not English, I would never
enjoy so much the original as the translated one. So I've begun to
translate the missing ones just to enjoy them, and for my children.
(I'm the father of two boys and a girl).

As P.D. is the first "untranslated", I've begun with it. (On the other
side it is the only one this time, I have too litle time for "fun").
As we have no sailing tradition and the Swallows and Amazons sail
thru the Chanel in good many chapters, I have to look up lexicons,
maps, travel guides, just to know what AR. wrote. (The translated
stories are much more simple in this point of wiew). And the 1715 was
the only thing I could not find anywhere.

Well, I've found the Jacobite rising - but this is related to whole
England as well as Napoleon and Waterloo. Probably the anniversary
of the pipe-maker company is the solution, but at this moment I afraid
this is a little weak one. I think Mr A.R. had known much more about
history (and the local history of Norfolk) than to write such sentences
just for writing something.

So I'm looking forward for other ideas.

Regards I.W.
