Absolutely. My only point was that in PM one gets a real impression of the Amazons having grown up. Although the D's have the imaginary notion of Picts and Martyrs, for the Amazons it's all real enough. The same has been said about Pigeon Post when compared with SA and I wouldn't disagree. So, I was just reacting to what some people had suggested earlier that the characters didn't change, develop or grow up through the books, and I rather think that they do. Similarly, I think AR mixes realism and romance in the most sophisticated of ways disguising each as the other.

While I'm on here I might also say that my favourite grown up character in the books is probably Mr. Dixon and, unlike someone earlier, I quite like the Dee and Dum characters in SW - there are a lot of quiet people in the world and it's pretty difficult to represent them in fiction and I think AR does a good job of it - particularly with Mr. Dixon who is very well observed.
