Thank you all for the discussion. And thanks, Andrew, for explaining that in 1930 there
was a difference between the basic right of way rules when racing and cruising.
I learned the racing rules when I started sailing, and over the years, each time
I have re-read SD, I have had a question in my mind about John's remark in "The Race".
And now thanks to the Tarboard, such discussions can take place across the world.
