In a UK TV version many years ago (ITV, 1960s I think - can someone be specific?) Titty was changed to 'Kitty', presumably for the reasons given by Mr Read-Powell. It didn't really work, and all versions since have used the correct name. I would advise - just give the lad the book anyway. Sniggers will soon give way to absorbed silence as he gets hooked . . .
