Your explanation just misses the mark for me. Roger's brother and
sisters seem to treat him as a little slow, explaining things carefully
to him, etc. Maybe it was because his part was not scripted that he
appeared that way to me. Anyway, here in Vancouver it's pretty hard to
find videos of AR's works to double-check. Must be something to do with
the reason that the books have never been highly popular on this side of
the Atlantic, although most public libraries have at least some of them.
This opens yet another avenue for fruitful exploration: why haven't
they been so popular in North America as in the U.K. Any why has Japan
taken to them so well?
