They are very minor indeed, albeit they were annoying to a boy who wanted, desperately, to answer the question "Is it real?" with "Yes!"

I am intrigued by Ramsome's switch, in "Coot Club", to almost precisely accurate locations, from locations composed out of real elements. Maybe this was due to growing confidence.

"Coot Club", "We Did'nt Mean to Go to Sea", "Secret Water" and "The Big Six" differ quite markedly from the Lake stories and indeed from "Great Northern" in this respect, although the last named has an interesting "apology" for not using a real location (to protect the Great Northerns from future Jemmerlings!)

Our boat is laid up in the same yard as the "Nancy Blackett", this year so I pointed her out to Alex as "The real Goblin". His reaction was that this proves the stories are true. She is another "real location".
