SA film: did they really land on the island?

I was re-watching S&A and am slightly suspicious of the scene where they first land on the island. Did they actually just film the children landing on the shore of Coniston, with Peel Island actually visible behind them in the background?

This would make sense in that Peel Island doesn't have much that resembles the landing place of the books.
