Yes, that's more or less it, but it's also the quiet humour of Mrs B. The remark seems to me to be made by an adult and directed to adults. Yes, of course she knows who Sophocles was, and knows about the pun on 'Homer' but she is giving us a glimpse of Nancy from another direction, different from Titty and Roger's awestruck admiration. In that one remark, I sense a happy, if frenetic, household. Which it was.
Can't really explain further, but I laugh every time I read those lines.
