You're spot on! I love Peel Island. Early on in the nineties I kept my Talisman sailing cruiser at the Coniston Boating Centre, and one of my most treasured memories is of sailing her on Coniston. We used to moor on the eastern shore opposite the Secret Harbour and swim over to the island. There's a very good contender for Pike Rock just off that point, I've got a photo of my youngest daughter sitting on it contentedly smoking a fag! Late one evening we sailed Kittiwake the length of Coniston on one of those rare southerlies, sublime. I've only ever been on Windermere via the Ferry but that's enough to turn me off!
