Working-class children reading AR? There is a quote somewhere (can't locate it right now, but someone will) from a librarian in a working-class area who said that AR's books were borrowed more often and had to be repaired more frequently than those of any other children's author. (I suppose the repairs could have been needed because the books were thrown across the room in righteous indignation at their Casual Elitism.)
