I climbed Lassen Perak too, back in 1980, but it wasn't my steam, the mountain seemed to have enough of its own in the hot springs. It is a volcanic peak which had an explosion similar to Mt. St. Helens back in about 1919. There are hot springs and sulphur deposits just beside the road.

I climbed up from the road which is about 2000 ft below the summit (only a few snow pockets in October and no register) so I didn't climb up all 10,000 feet from sea level!
