Many thanks for your web-efforts, Dave -- they're very much appreciated.

Thanks also to Jeremy, Jon, and Andy for their comments. I offer the following in reply --

Jeremy
I think the first part of your question is probably answered by Jon's comment -- the trees are in the gully of the creek that flows into Houseboat Bay, and the line of sight between the Observatory and Holly Howe lies above them.

On the other hand, it seems that the tarn should have been shown a little further west of its present position, to put it on the line between the two, ready to be crossed by the recsuers the morning after the signalling to Mars had occurred. So I have relocated it accordingly.

Andy
Tea Bay was deliberately left unmapped as I can't be sure of its proper location. It seems possible that this might have been the name given to the bay that was later called "Shark Bay" by the Swallows, in honour of the pike that Roger caught and lost. On the other hand, Shark Bay was formerly called "Dixon's Bay" by the Swallows, and it seems logical that it would have been known by that name to the Amazons as well. So the next guess is that Tea Bay is the next bay south of Shark Bay. But in the absence of any reliable evidence one way or the other, it seemed better to omit the name altogether rather than to give the location of Tea Bay any unwarranted exactitude.

However, I'd be glad to hear from anyone who can pinpoint the location of Tea Bay for me more exactly.

For the location of the Landing Place on Wild Cat Island, I refer interested readers to the map of the island appearing immediately before the start of Chapter 1 of "Swallows and Amazons." This, I need hardly say, is not necessarily a map of Peel Island, and AR may well have used his literary licence here to change the location and topography of the Landing Place, as he has used it to make numerous other changes elsewhere in the books.

Brockstones (west of Longfell Wood) has been added to the map since Dave's uploading.

I'd be delighted to hear from any reader who knows of features that have been omitted from or mislocated on either of the maps. Please fell free to post any comment you might have here, or to email it to me off-forum.

And since the Reply screen doesn't want to accept my email address, here it is again.
