The Four Firs?

Look at the header illustration at the top of the chapter.
Here, clearly, is the Amazon boathouse, and the GA pointing out those dreadful daisies on the lawn.

But now look up and to the right of the house, up to the brow of the fell.

What are those four little marks? Are they the four firs?

There are problems with this, of course.

In the previous chapter, it's made clear that these wouldn't be visible from the house.

But if they're not the firs, why would Ransome bother to put anything there at all?

I'd love to hear some feedback, if anyone's interested.
