Peter, you say that she has the "burden of bringing back her siblings in one piece". Surely this would be a self-imposed burden; if any one had been expected by Mother to look after their siblings, surely it would have been John? I wonder how much of Susan Altounyan's personality [and the personalities of the other children of the family] has been written into the books [or even hinted at] by AR?
