Names corrupt all the time, especialy in country areas, where signs may be rare, the locals have an accent which new arrivals mis-hear

local first edition Ordnance Survey map shows a narrow lane leading to a large house - "Sod Hall", and indeed there is still a narrow, muddy lane there which many can't be bothered walking up ... however by the second edition sod all had disappeared.
