AR, Bohemians the Guardian and play

Did anyone see the article in last week's Guardian review section called Brave new world order on Virginia Nicholson's book Among the Bohemian's? AR gets several mentions.
It is interesting to muse on the apparent contradictions in AR's association with the Bohemians who attempted to subvert a society supposedly dominated by a conventional desire to be "proper" and the concerns of the Swallows etc to do things "properly".
I think the contradiction can be resolved by the word "play" which implies not just children's games but the flexibility achieved by "play" in the system. And if play is to be fun it must be taken seriously and done "properly".
BTW a search of the Guardian unlimited site will reveal many Ar references including a reprint of the (then) Manchester Guardian's original review of S & A
